Blueberry, Kale & Pineapple Smoothie

Blueberry, Kale & Pineapple Smoothie
Smoothies are just one of those drinks I can’t get enough of! I drink them almost every day for breakfast. Usually I stick to my favorites by adding the usual fruits and veggies that I know work well together when combined. I know firsthand what a bad smoothie combo tastes like…gross! You know you hit the jackpot with the right fruit, juice and veggie combo when your taste buds explode and that is exactly what the smoothie does.
I’ve made so many smoothies that end up tasting extremely bland with no sweetness left and appear the color of a wet cardboard box with grass stains (if your using kale or spinach!). Even the smoothie I made this morning ended up tasting and looking something like that. I should have just stuck with what I know works like this Blueberry, Kale and Pineapple smoothie.
This is one of my favorites to make after I work out. It keeps me full for a while and tastes like chocolate sugary sweetness. I normally like adding kale or spinach as the base to make it more nutritious and dilute some of the sweetness. Trust me, this one is sweet enough, you would never even know there were any greens in this smoothie. I start with kale and then add pineapple, and blueberries. The beauty of making a smoothie is that you never have to measure the ingredients, you can just eyeball them, mix together and then add more of one ingredient or another to make it taste how you prefer. The special ingredients that makes this smoothie to.die.for are dates and the NutriBullet Superfood Superboost Powder.
1-2 cups loose kale
1/2 frozen blueberries
1/2 pineapple
1-2 dates, unpitted
1/4 cup almond milk
I buy the dates and frozen blueberries from Sam’s Club in bulk size and the Superfood powder from Bed, Bath and Beyond. The reason I like the powder so much is because it gives me so much energy and only has 4 ingredients: cacao, chia, goji and and maca. It’s really up to you how many dates you want to add. I like this particular smoothie very sweet, so I use 2 dates. If you need to omit something, add cinnamon instead of the Superboost Powder, but do not skip out on the dates, they are what makes this smoothie so extremely tasty. Sometimes if I run out of juice or almond milk, I’ll use Berry Juicy Juice, not the healthiest, but it so delicious! Hope you enjoy.
